Redefining Interview Preparation

In2Med Insights | Last Updated: 9 December 2020

What is the Interview?

You can find out more about the medical interview here – but in summary: the interview is the last step in the selection process for undergraduate medicine in most Australian universities. Unlike the ATAR and the UCAT (which both test academic ability), the interview assesses the candidates’ qualities relevant to the medical profession – such as communication skills, empathy and ethical reasoning. The subjectivity of the interview process and the ambiguity surrounding its marking has left many students unsure about the interview. For that reason, many have either chose not to prepare for the interview or simply attempted to memorise stock responses and have missed out on medical selection as a result.

While there are private tutoring opportunities and companies that specialise in interview preparation, these tend to be very expensive and often exclude aspiring medical students who live in rural/remote areas and cannot travel to the workshops.

Our Course

Here at In2Med, our goal is to demystify the interview for all our students. Through our written content, summary videos, quizzes, practice questions and interactive videos/simulated exams, we do not focus on ‘coaching’ you for the interview. Rather, we hope to equip you with the background knowledge, strategies and application opportunities to formulate your own responses. Although it is of course impossible to predict what exactly you will see on the day of the interview, with the wealth of In2Med resources and practice questions behind you, you will feel prepared no matter what the interview throws at you.

How are we redefining interview preparation?

In our pursuit of making medical entry as affordable and accessible as possible, we are also the first medical preparation organisation in Australia to give students access to online interactive simulated interviews to be able to recreate the experience of a mock interview as close as possible for the smallest price and easiest accessibility.

We know that not everyone can afford to spend hundreds of dollars to gain access to mock interviews and hire personal tutors; so, instead of paying $200 for a few mock interviews, by forking out less than $80, you will have access to one live mock interview (conducted by a current Monash medical student) and 4 full simulated interviews (including full MMIs) with unique questions. We are even willing to offer further discounts to rural/Indigenous students or those from lower socioeconomic circumstances.

Our online interactive simulated interviews are interactive videos that have been intuitively designed and created to mimic the experience of a real mock interview, so that students can gain more experience to prepare themselves for the medical interview. At In2Med, we have no doubt that this innovative and new form of preparation will help all students prepare for the interview, but especially those who do not have the ability to travel for mock interviews – in conjunction with our comprehensive online course, you never need to leave your home!

Making preparation more accessible for everyone

Not everyone has the ability to travel to major cities to sit a mock interview or attend lectures. At In2Med we understand the geographical disadvantages that many students across Australia face and so, by putting ALL of our content online and conducting mock interviews via zoom, we are ensuring equitable access to the necessary preparation resources for all Australian students.

In fulfilling our aims to…

  1. Ensure all have the opportunity to access our resources, regardless of
